Principal and Leadership Team Institute, Berkeley – October 4, 2006 PDF Print E-mail

Cesar Chavez Middle School, Hayward Unified School District

To develop the college-going culture at the school, staff used the School Self Assessment Rubric (SSAR) to evaluate their school. In addition, they use the strategies of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) curriculum to motivate their students to continue their education beyond high school. Staff continues to maintain focus with the change of a new principal in 2006.

Best Practice

The school continues to make use of the Parent Institute for Quality Education through Title I funding. In addition, staff has focused on the needs of the English-speaking families through the services of the Family Initiatives Project (FIP).
