California GEAR UP Happenings

Visitacion Valley Middle School, San Francisco, had an average of 23 parents at each Family Initiatives Project session completed in December 2006; Principal James Dierke was named the 2006 administrator from all middle grades in the state by the Association of California School Administrators.
Principal Cherisse Baatin of Martin Luther King Jr. Academy, Marin City, is working with staff to achieve the district’s motto of "Vision 900," which means the district will achieve an API of 900. For details, go to Articles of Interest on the GEAR UP website.
