Valley High School Counseling Program Wins Award

In March 2008 the Valley High School Counseling Program was selected to receive the prestigious H.B. McDaniel Group Award for the 2007-2008 school year. The nomination, based on letters of recommendation, noted that the “program strives to serve, in every way possible, the needs of your students; especially notable is the after school counseling program for faculty to improve their ability to include culturally diverse material into their curriculum and become culturally aware of their impact upon the population that they serve.”

This annual award of the McDaniel Foundation recognizes an outstanding program in the tradition of Henry Bonner McDaniel, the father of school counseling and guidance in California. H. B. McDaniel was on both the School of Education and the Psychology faculties at Stanford University. The banquet and awards ceremony will take place at the Stanford Faculty Club on the Stanford University campus on June 21, 2008.
