  • In January 2008 a “College-Going School Rally” at Visitacion Middle School featured students with large placards showing the “A-G” Requirements and the four types of California higher education options:  10 University of California (UC) undergraduate sites, 23 California State University (CSU), 110 Community Colleges (CC), and 75 Independent Colleges.  Inspirational music played and cheers were led by Regional Coordinator Don Mar.
  • In December 2007, Valley High School, Elk Grove Unified School District, was selected as one of 22 “Beating the Odds” schools in California by graduating more students, reducing dropout rates, and achieving higher test scores than schools with similar student populations.  The California GEAR UP Student Services Model Project, located at the high school, sponsored a celebration luncheon for faculty and staff in January,2008.
