GEAR UP Partner: Parent Institute for Quality Education
Spring 2008 | Admin | June 4, 2008 at 11:07 amSince July 2007, many families have completed Parent Institute for Quality Education classes at GEAR UP schools. These sessions offer valuable information on what is needed for students to be successful in school. Families, parents and guardians learn how to negotiate with school staff to benefit their children.

Through February 2008, the following schools celebrated with their graduates:
Additional schools had graduation during March and April 2008: Madison Middle, Stephen White Middle, Pacoima Middle, Carnegie Middle, Sun Valley Middle, San Pasqual Valley Middle, Castle Park Middle, Wilson Junior High, Holtville Middle, North Park Middle, Granada Elementary, Los Nietos Middle School, Columbia Middle, Emery Park Elementary, Repetto School, Monterey Highland Elementary, Portola Middle, Frick Middle, Riverview Middle, Winton Middle, Live Oak Middle, and West Cottonwood Junior High.
From July 2007 to April 2008, 1524 parents graduated through PIQE classes provided by California GEAR UP. Parents are required to attend four sessions to receive a certificate of graduation. Other family members also attended sessions.
